Royer's Round Top Cafe
The menu at Royer’s Round Top Cafe will surprise you. Instead of the typical country fare, you’ll find “a Texas country bistro serving gourmet comfort food.” Although Round Top is a town of only 77 people about an hour’s drive from both Austin and Houston, word of mouth has traveled far.The story of this iconic Texas bistro has drawn the attention of many regional and national publications. This small eatery has literally redefined the phrase “word of mouth” marketing in the restaurant business. Henkle Square
One of Round Top’s most iconic historic squares is reborn as a shopping, dining, bar-happy place and gallery space. It’s an experience, really. Look around. Beyond the historic charm; 1800 something structures that were once home to immigrating Germans, the acreage that comprises Henkel Square Market is an awesome place to be. Pathways, gardens, bridges, places to sit and visit, tables on which to nosh or chat around, antique roses , a lovely fountain, and myriad flowering plantings all nestle around and under the Century Live Oaks that have appointed this site in natural beauty for forever, it seems. Relax. Breathe. Take it all in. Above all, enjoy.
Round Top Festival Institute
The 1971 Festival, a ten-day session with ten piano students, included two concerts. During its first five years, the Festival-Institute leased facilities, but a master plan of development was soon established for programs and the future of the permanent campus. The first major facility, the Mary Moody Northen Pavilion, was acquired in 1973. It was the largest transportable stage in the world and was used for open-air concerts until 1983. Later, it was housed in the 1,000-seat Festival Concert Hall, on which construction began in 1981, until the permanent stage was completed in the Concert Hall in 1993. An abandoned school building and six acres of land North of Round Top were acquired in 1973 for a future campus to be named Festival Hill. The festival and its year-round operations moved to this site in the Bicentennial Summer of 1976.
Round Top Antique Shows
Twice a year, in the spring and fall the small Texas town of Round Top swells from its population of 90 to a few hundred thousand during the Round Top Antiques Festival. The antiques show is the largest of its kind in the country, stretching over 11 miles on either side of Texas State Highway 237.Our show is the original show that started it all in 1968. Since then, nearly a hundred venues have joined along side ours to put on this uniquely Texas event. During the show, visitors drive down the rural highway of TX-237, to shop barns, tents, and hayfields for authentic antiques, fine art, home decor, and more.
